Anthropic's compute commitments could reach $517B, nearly 3x earlier forecast

Anthropic has committed to cloud, chip and data center deals that could cost up to $517 billion, mostly over the next decade — nearly 3x its earlier $180B forecast for server rentals, though the new estimate covers a longer period and broader spending categories.
Since October, Anthropic has signed agreements for at least 14.8GW of compute capacity, on top of 1-2GW secured earlier; Amazon and Google account for 11GW at over $300B. Demand is driven mainly by Claude Code and Cowork, while CEO Dario Amodei urges AI labs to "pace the frontier."
