ByteDance Seed's Paint-Anything adds hex-precise any-color control to image generation
ByteDance-Seed · hf · 2026-09-21
ByteDance Seed introduces Paint-Anything, a method letting users specify any object's color with an exact 24-bit hex value for both image generation and editing, without dedicated color representations or special inference procedures.
- Approach: LLMs link hex values to color semantics; the model learns a shared hex-prompt interface via object-level color supervision.
- Data: A pipeline builds Paint-500K from real images (object grounding, perceptual color labeling, edit-pair synthesis). Pure-color anchors with pixel-exact hex matches are added only at high-noise timesteps to fix shadow-induced label inaccuracy.
- Results: A new benchmark, ACBench (T2I and Edit tracks), measures object-level hex color fidelity. On FLUX.2-4B, Paint-Anything improves ACBench-T2I by 85.3% and ACBench-Edit by 28.3% over the base model, with the top average CompColor score.
