Apple's C2 modem is competitive, and a cheaper Qualcomm deal may be next

Analyst Samir Khazaka argues Apple's in-house C2 modem is quite good and competitive, putting a years-long milestone behind the company. Going in-house cuts modem costs and gives Apple more freedom to optimize performance at the system level. With the current Qualcomm license agreement approaching its end, Apple may soon push hard to reduce its Qualcomm licensing payments. Skeptics long said modems were too hard for Apple — they are hard and take time, but Apple planned for it, stayed the course, and delivered.
