Black hat SEOs exploit indexable public NotebookLM pages for parasite SEO
gaganghotra_ · x · 2026-09-21
- Google is indexing publicly shared NotebookLM notebooks, and black hat SEOs are exploiting this as a new parasite SEO tactic.
- The pages live under notebook.google.com and inherit google.com's authority, so they rank well and are being used to hijack search results.
- The same thing happened with Gemini public chat links before; the Gemini team made those links non-indexable, keeping only person-to-person sharing.
- The author expects NotebookLM to follow suit with robots.txt changes or a noindex meta tag, so public notebooks become share-only and drop out of search engines.
