Powermove launches: a tiny-kernel video editor where every feature is an AI-writable extension

Iterative Computer released Powermove, a free open-source video editor where "the app itself is the thing you edit": the kernel is intentionally tiny, with timeline, effects, inspector and the UI all living in extensions. Users can ask its agent to write a new feature as an extension, the same way the team built the editor. The bet: After Effects won via twenty years of plugins — now compress that into a prompt.
The Dessn team is exploring a similar idea for design: a barebones canvas where every piece of UI is a plugin, letting teams customize the tool around their own workflow; the hard part is an API so good you can't tell plugins from core UI.
