Part 8 of Anil Seth's thread: he points to compelling arguments against computational functionalism by Gualtiero Piccinini, Godfrey-Smith and others, including his own paper 'Conscious artificial intelligence and biological naturalism' in Behavioral and Brain Sciences. If those arguments are on track, LLM consciousness is off the table, and so is LLM pain.
