A year after Nano Banana Pro, no local image-editing model comes close
TomasAhcor · reddit · 2026-09-21
A heavy local image-generation user reflects that nearly a year after Nano Banana Pro's release, no open/local model matches its image editing: Google's face-reference coherence feels like an instant per-person LoRA, while GPT's and Qwen's edits look like copy-paste collages. For T2I, though, Krea 2 is near-perfect with best-in-class LoRA training. The author hopes Krea 3 will finally deliver a local NBP equivalent for I2I editing.
