A new Science study finds a rare inherited EGFR T790M mutation may significantly increase lung cancer risk among people who have never smoked. By tracing the ancestry of carriers, researchers uncovered a shared genetic legacy hundreds of years old, concentrated in the southeastern United States. The research was supported by Dana-Farber, 23andMe, and the Susan Wojcicki Foundation.
