iamtrask: pro-artist AI will shift where artists sit in the value chain

iamtrask · x · 2026-09-21

iamtrask argues that if "pro-artist" AI thrives, the biggest change to artistic industries will be a shift in the share of artists selling "artistic inspiration" in the supply chain vs. those selling the final product. Individual artists typically sell finished works, while in film production only the studio sells the final product—and those closest to it (actors, directors) gain fame and pay. He adds that artists starve because influencers and celebrities hog attention and cultural value creation, and AI could rebalance this.
