Spotify Turns Internal Coding-Tool Chaos Into Xirp, a Mac App for 50+ Parallel AI Sessions

Spotify opened public beta of Xirp on August 10, a macOS desktop app for running multiple AI coding tools at once.
- Origin: Spotify engineers had too many coding tools open on the same laptop; the company reports 36,000+ internal sessions across thousands of engineers.
- Capability: Xirp detects installed coding-tool command lines and runs them in persistent terminals you can leave and return to. Current docs list Anthropic's Claude Code, OpenAI's Codex, Google's Gemini CLI, plus Pi and Cursor.
- Isolation: each task can get its own Git worktree — a separate working folder attached to the same repository — so two tools can edit the same project without touching each other's files.
- Each tool keeps its own login and model settings; Xirp organizes those sessions on one desk.
