Latent Space rounds up the community frenzy around the mysterious closed model Jev: its launch video hit 36M views in two days, and per Vercel it reached 13% of AI Gateway teams on day one — 2x the GPT-5.6 family and 6x Fable 5.1. Since the architecture is undisclosed, six independent clones appeared in 48 hours, each guessing differently: Laya (421M ModernBERT encoder + PPO), DiffusionGemmaJev (diffusion, near-parity benchmarks), Bespoke Nimble (Qwen3.5-9B LoRA, 90% vs 93%), SemIf (Qwen3.5 + 3-class NLI, 4B/35B), Jevlike (40KB lightweight attention), and Kev-0.5B (runs on a MacBook Pro).
