- Shuyan Zhou, HIT-alum and creator of WebArena, left her Duke professorship in early 2025 to join Meta's Superintelligence Labs (MSL), where her core mission is building an AI browser — inspired by wanting a device her mom could use to book flights by conversation.
- She earned her PhD at CMU's LTI in 2024, with 9,500+ citations and h-index 25. Her work spans WebArena (241 task templates, 812 tasks), VisualWebArena (910 visual tasks), and OSWorld (369 computer-use tasks, NeurIPS 2024; humans scored 72.36% vs. 12.24% for the best model at publication).
- MSL, formed June 2025, merged TBDLab and FAIR under Alexandr Wang, offering packages up to $300M over four years; nearly half of its public roster is Chinese researchers, including chief scientist Shengjia Zhao.
- MSL's first outputs: multimodal reasoning model MuseSpark (April) and the Muse personal agent (September).
