Google Web Guide bug traps users: Classic search button fails to exit AI results

Google Search's beta Web Guide feature—which blends AI-organized results with traditional web listings—has a new bug: clicking the "Classic search" button doesn't take users back to the classic results page and simply reloads Web Guide results.
- First spotted by Damien Andell on X, who also reported a second error where a link returns "null://null" instead of the site name.
- Barry Schwartz of Search Engine Roundtable reproduced the bug and shared a GIF demonstrating it.
- SEO expert Glenn Gabe noted the issue appeared that morning; he was sometimes stuck in Web Guide but occasionally managed to get standard SERPs on retry.
For SEOs and site owners, the glitch makes it hard to quickly check traditional SERPs while Web Guide is enabled.
