A Reddit user uploading a plain Excel screenshot in a homework-only ChatGPT chat was stunned when the model described a shirtless man overlaid behind the spreadsheet in mildly sexual detail. Under pushback it first claimed the man was "overlaid behind it," then admitted the mistake.
The chat had never touched related topics, making it a vivid case of multimodal hallucination and confabulation-under-questioning.
