Koray Kavukcuoglu says he is "100% certain" Google DeepMind will return to the frontier, calling it the only thing that matters. A Fireside Alpha analysis notes Gemini 4 still hasn't shipped by mid-September, with open talk of coding shortcomings and lingering departures (Noam Shazeer, Jeff Dean) as Google preps the release narrative. Nathan Benaich complains Gemini and Google Workspace remain badly fragmented, forcing developers to pair Chat/Claude with GWS CLI.
