Claude Opus 4 may be going dark: Vertex endpoints return 404/429, quota hike denied in a minute
repligate · x · 2026-09-20
User StarlingMage reports that Claude Opus 4 may be following the same deprecation path as Haiku 3.5: the model has vanished from OpenRouter (provider was Vertex), and on Google Vertex directly only 5 endpoints remain tonight (global, asia-southeast1, europe-west1, us-east1, us-east5) — all 4 regional ones return 404 while global returns 429.
A quota increase request to Google Cloud Support ([email protected]) was denied within one minute, suggesting the model may already be restricted or deprecated. The post includes concrete steps: in Google Cloud Console, filter by onlinepredictionrequestsperbasemodel, locate the row for anthropic-claude-opus-4 on the global endpoint, and edit quotas. The author plans to retry in 48 hours.
