One astra general directs 7 jev agents in Warcraft 3: 1,000+ LLM calls for ~20 cents
Vjeux · x · 2026-09-20
@BrainsAndTennis demos a composite agent harness in Warcraft 3: astra acts as a "general" devising strategy while 7 individual jev agents serve as "platoon leaders" separately controlling heroes and unit groups. The micro isn't at pro level (Grubby's still the goat), but it executed a coherent strategy with intelligent micro decisions.
- 1,000+ model calls in a 2-minute match, 100 calls per unit group per minute
- That rate would be too slow and expensive for most LLM APIs, but cost only 20 cents on jev
- The author ran out of jev tokens after one video and plans to open-source a performant WC3 environment with @nicochristie
"Wish we had this when we were simulating agent civilizations in Minecraft," the author adds.
