ChatGPT co-inventor ships Jev, a decisions-only AI model running 20-200x faster
minchoi · x · 2026-09-20
A ChatGPT co-inventor has launched Jev, an AI model that doesn't chat — it only makes decisions (yes/no, categories, or scores), claimed to be 20-200x faster and 40-400x cheaper than general LLMs.
The community has already found a wave of uses:
- Playing Doom and Minecraft in real time
- Powering browser agents
- LLM-as-a-judge evaluation at near-zero cost
- Natural-language visual linting for websites, email/comment triage, and more
Follow-up tests include running 1,000 emails through seven decision rules for about nine cents (six seconds after parallelization), plus a Bitcoin paper-trading experiment requesting a new decision every second.
