fast-jev-compaction Hits 4.3k Stars: Score-and-Drop Context Compaction for Claude Code
FinanceYF5 · x · 2026-09-20
An open-source Claude Code plugin, fast-jev-compaction (already 4.3k GitHub stars), replaces LLM summarization-based context compaction with instant compaction: every tool call and result is scored in one fast request, stale ones are dropped or truncated, and everything kept stays verbatim.
- Core argument: summaries are lossy — file paths, exact errors, constraints, and commands can vanish even when they matter later.
- The library never rewrites content; it only deletes tool calls and tool results that Jev deems no longer needed, showing Jev the whole conversation when scoring.
- User and assistant text stays verbatim and in order.
- It works as a Claude Code plugin and as an npm library.
For long-running agents that call tools frequently, this is faster and lighter than summary-based compaction.
