Fruit fly connectome chess model beats Jev 4-1 in 10 games, with a playable demo site
maximelabonne · x · 2026-09-20
Maxime Labonne (creator of ChessFly, a chess network built around a fruit fly connectome) reshares Vihaan Motwani's benchmark: over 10 games, ChessFly beat the fast decision model Jev 4 wins to 1, with 5 draws. Labonne quips "Opus 5, Jev — who's next?"
The companion site fly-vs-jev lets anyone play against ChessFly, Jev, or the Fly+Jev combo (the fly proposes its five strongest candidates, Jev picks one). No engine advice during play; Stockfish judges completed games afterward, and token spend is displayed live.
