Databricks CEO Ghodsi: companies wouldn't notice if frontier models stopped advancing

Databricks CEO Ali Ghodsi (quoted via a16z) argues most companies wouldn't even notice if frontier AI models stopped advancing: the models are smart enough — what they lack is organizational context. They haven't sat in meetings, don't know internal processes, and miss the tacit knowledge of "that one employee everyone taps on the shoulder."
The reposter adds enterprise observations: fusing fragmented systems into a living knowledge graph so models reason over how the business actually operates, then automating previously tribal-knowledge-dependent processes, delivers far bigger gains than bolting a chatbot onto old workflows. Accuracy and guardrails must be built in, not bolted on.
