An analyst priced Meta Muse's per-user agent box (2 CPUs, 8 GB RAM, 7.5 GB disk) at $30-60/month on GCP/Azure/AWS, questioning how Meta gives every user a free server. A cloud infrastructure engineer pushes back: nobody runs one persistent machine per user. With Firecracker-style microVMs, shared filesystems, and near-instant snapshot/suspend/resume across clusters, Meta boots a user's VM only while the agent is actively working and sleeps it otherwise — making the economics far cheaper than persistent-server math suggests.
