Tesla AI5 chip enters trial production on Samsung's 2nm Texas fab, mass output by 2027

Tesla's next-gen inference chip AI5 has entered trial production at Samsung's Taylor, Texas fab. Samsung reportedly started producing AI5 wafers on its 2nm line, with yield and mass-production verification underway ahead of volume production in 2027.
AI5 targets Optimus, Tesla's AI data centers, future vehicles, and next-gen autonomous driving. Elon has said it will first ship into Optimus and data centers before expanding into cars — moving AI5 from design to actual 2nm silicon in Texas.
