pavlexlkl · reddit · 2026-09-19
A developer released ROCmFix, a single-file, zero-dependency Python tool that automates the painful parts of running local LLMs on AMD GPUs, especially on Windows.
Features:
- Auto-detects GPUs via Windows Registry/Linux lspci and sets the correct HSAOVERRIDEGFXVERSION (gfx1100/gfx1101 etc.)
- One-click apply/undo of env vars across CMD, PowerShell, Bash, Zsh, Fish
- rocmfix doctor checks drivers, HIP SDK and Vulkan status
- rocmfix bench runs a 10-second Vulkan vs HIP race via Ollama or LM Studio
- Auto-downloads the 1.2GB official AMD HIP SDK
- Daily-synced community GPU database with day-one RDNA2/3/4 and APU support
Quick start: download rocmfix.py via PowerShell or curl and run it — no install needed.
