UMG and Sony Sue Suno Again, Claiming v6 Model Infringes 60,000+ Songs

Sony Music and Universal Music Group filed a new 45-page lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in Massachusetts against AI music startup Suno, alleging its label-backed v6 model family infringes over 60,000 copyrighted songs.

The suit argues that Suno's admission that v6 was trained on outputs of its previous infringing models means the new training "launderes" the infringement rather than eliminating it. Suno maintains that v6 was trained on content licensed from partners, community interactions, and the team's accumulated learnings.
