scaling01 resurfaced Andrej Karpathy's criticism of AI agents from about 11 months ago: the models simply aren't there yet, the industry is making too big of a jump and pretending it's amazing — "it's slop!" Karpathy suspected insiders weren't coming to terms with it, possibly because they were fundraising.
The quote is being recirculated as a yardstick for how much (or little) the agent debate has actually moved in a year.
