Anthropic publishes three public metrics to track how fast AI is building AI

Anthropic announced three public measurements to track AI progress: (1) how much AI R&D is done by AI itself, (2) how well AI agents can be overseen, and (3) how compute is allocated. The company published an internal snapshot of these metrics and stressed that any frontier lab could publish the same measures, verifiable by third parties. The goal: as the world considers pacing frontier development, minimize the gap between what frontier labs know and what the public knows — making "AI building AI" measurable with numbers, not vibes.
