Adaptyv and Anthropic Launch World's Largest Protein Design Competition With $1M in Free Wet-Lab Validation
iskander · x · 2026-09-19
Protein design company Adaptyv is partnering with Anthropic to launch what it calls the world's largest AI protein design competition, challenging participants to design new drug candidates with AI.
- Five challenges, each focused on a specific disease or biological mechanism, with a major step-up in complexity and scale over previous competitions.
- Over $1 million in sponsored experimental validation will test more than 5,000 protein designs in Adaptyv's automated wet lab at no cost to participants; Anthropic is contributing additional support.
- Researcher Trevor Campbell is already recruiting collaborators to design proteins that bind or destroy biofilm-regulatory proteins (SinR, CsrA/RsmA, c-di-GMP effectors, etc.) for therapeutic and industrial applications.
