ChatGPT Pro $200 tier reappears after 8-day pause, but only for lapsed subscribers
APPSO · wechat · 2026-09-19
Eight days after OpenAI paused new signups for the $200 ChatGPT Pro tier, purchase buttons have reappeared for some users in the Codex desktop app, with reports of successful upgrades from the $100 Pro tier.
However, this is not a full reopening: per OpenAI's help center, only users who held a Pro $200 subscription as of September 10 (or whose access ended within 30 days prior) get a one-time chance to resubscribe within 30 days of losing access. New subscriptions and standard upgrades remain suspended. OpenAI cited heavy compute load from the $200 tier as the reason for the pause; existing subscribers are unaffected.
