Modal x Gray Area picks 13 AI art commissions, each with $20K cloud credits

Gray Area and Modal ran a global call for AI-enabled artworks exploring the realities of scaling computation, drawing 200+ submissions and selecting 13 projects from artists including Cezar Mocan, Grayson Earle, Ira Greenberg and Parag K. Mital. Each recipient gets a stipend, materials budget, production support, and $20,000 in Modal cloud credits. The works debut at Gray Area in San Francisco, October 28 – November 1, 2026.
