After a developer claimed to rebuild Tesla FSD with the Jev model in under an hour, ML educator Sentdex pushed back: the demo feeds ground-truth privileged simulation data into a classifier — 'NPCs driving in a video game, with extra steps' — and a few if-statements would honestly drive better. The real challenge of self-driving, he argues, is perception understanding, not control.
