OpenClaw launches Multiplayer Mode to kill the 'meat proxy' in agent teamwork
heyneighbor · x · 2026-09-19
OpenClaw, the open-source agent framework, released a "Multiplayer Mode" with a 33-minute deep dive from its maintainers covering the pain points it solves:
- The "meat proxy" problem: agents are currently bound to one person, making the human an opaque conduit for the rest of the team
- Why not a Slack bot: live shared-session demos, UI mockups and @ mentions instead
- Permissions and security: fine-grained access, team visibility, and task handoffs
- Prompt requests and shared dashboards: teammates can submit prompt requests and build content dashboards
- The multi-claw idea: parallel agents, with a discussion of whether it could replace Slack
Their framing: "coordination over throughput" — in team settings, agent value lies in being auditable and shareable, not just fast.
