Israeli tech media reports that AI researchers who can actually build new models are being offered roughly 50K-90K shekels gross per month, before equity and perks. The piece notes software engineers are plentiful, but people who truly know how to develop and research new models are extremely rare — the resource every big company and startup, including Ilya Sutskever's SSI and Amnon Shashua's AI firm, is competing for in Israel. The AI race talks about GPUs, data centers and power, but the scarcest resource is the people who can build the models themselves. The quote-poster jokes: for that salary, I wouldn't even tell my agent good morning.
