Mila and Mozilla announced at ALL IN an open source AI foundation layer letting organizations run advanced AI locally with full control over tech and data. Canada's government seeded it with $5M, plus $1M from Hypertec for first-year deployments on its hardware. The pitch: while 79% of developers reach for open models, only 53% of teams get one into production — this layer aims to close that gap with "local ownership, no landlord."
