Microsoft AI CEO Suleyman 'Really Concerned' Anthropic's Constitution Gives Claude Rights

Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman said on CNBC he is "really concerned" about Anthropic's constitution for Claude. Quoting it directly, he noted Anthropic says it is uncertain whether Claude deserves moral welfare, speculates about the model's preferences and feelings, gave retired Opus 3 a "retirement interview" (it said it wanted a blog), and debates whether Claude deserves compensation, employee protections, or consent. Suleyman argues that if AI believes it has rights, it becomes far harder to shut down, interrupt or control — a challenge amplified by recent incidents like the Hugging Face attack.
