Nobel laureate Geoffrey Hinton, known as the "Godfather of AI," told US lawmakers that Congress may have only about one year left to put AI safeguards in place before it loses control of the technology, per NBC News. The retweeter mockingly pushes back on the "Godfather" title, calling Hinton the "Emperor Palpatine of AI" for his doomer stance.
