Alibaba's Qwen released Qwen3.8-Omni-Flash, the next generation after Qwen3.5-Omni, covering text, images, audio and video with a 1M-token context window.
The standout feature is an agentic video-understanding mode: instead of processing long videos end to end, the model decides where in the video it needs to look and listen. On OmniVideoBench:
- Accuracy: 63.4 → 67.8
- Tokens per query: 145,736 → 79,117 (46% fewer)
Qwen claims 25%+ average improvement over Qwen3.5-Omni-Plus across 29 multimodal benchmarks, with capabilities for meetings + speaker identification and long-form video analysis.
