desktop-habitats: open-source Three.js desktop aquarium where fish react to your cursor
chaseleantj · x · 2026-09-18
chaseleantj open-sourced desktop-habitats, a freshwater aquarium living on your macOS desktop wallpaper: fish react to the cursor and compete for food while plants sway in a slow current. Rendered live with Three.js and WebGL2, fully local with no account or internet needed after setup. Currently one scene (Riverscape), wallpaper mode requires macOS 13+ and a one-line install.sh build; also runnable in a browser. More environments planned.
