Cody, a 31-year-old farmer on Fiji's Kadavu island with no CS background, used AI to teach himself software development over 2,000+ hours and built Teivaka, a farm management system, presented at the 2026 Global Agrifood Innovators Competition in Hangzhou (FAO, Zhejiang University, Pinduoduo).
- The problem: 84% of Fiji's 83,000 farmers are smallholders lacking production records, financing and stable buyers; Fiji imports FJ$1.1B in food but exports only FJ$200-300M.
- Teivaka lets farmers log planting, labor, inputs and finances; an AI assistant gives local crop advice and builds a shareable 'agricultural passport' for banks and institutions. Piloting on two farms with 100 first users.
