Grok Build ships memory: it now carries project conventions and decisions across sessions
tetsuoai · x · 2026-09-18
xAI has made Memory generally available in Grok Build (latest v1.0.34, dated September 16).
- Background capture: After each completed turn, Grok reviews the turn and records durable facts—conventions, decisions with reasoning, and project facts—as Markdown topic files, scoped per project or globally.
- Recall before work: Later sessions pull relevant topics before touching related code. In xAI's demo, the agent remembered that tests must run via just test (which starts the test database), avoiding failures that plain cargo test would hit.
- Compounding value: The CLI gets better the more you use it. Install via curl -fsSL https://x.ai/cli/install.sh | bash; free to try.
