Franck Nielsen released a short paper distinguishing two types of geometric Jensen–Shannon divergences, depending on whether the geometric mixtures are normalized or not. He notes in a follow-up that ordinary mixtures are normalized by default via the arithmetic mean, whereas geometric mixtures need not be.
