NewEyes AI brings a hybrid on-device/cloud visual agent to Meta glasses
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-09-18
Collov Labs' NewEyes AI is a visual agent running on Meta smart glasses with a "look, ask, act" hands-free interface. Lightweight processing stays on-device, with deeper cloud reasoning invoked only when a request needs it, reducing redundant processing and token spend.
The author argues the local/cloud compute split is more interesting than the glasses themselves: AI glasses face the core tension of an always-available agent without always-on cloud inference. A visual agent can observe far more than a user would type into a chatbot, useful for asking about ingredients while cooking, outfit help, or small tasks without pulling out a phone.
