Shopify engineer builds Reflex: Qwen3.5-0.8B structured-decision model running in-browser via WebGPU
dbreunig · x · 2026-09-18
A Shopify engineer, inspired by Jev, built Reflex — a Qwen3.5-0.8B (650MB) experiment in structured decisions with probabilities, running fully in-browser via WebGPU. Feed it a state (text/JSON or an image) plus questions with fixed answer formats (yes/no, choice of up to 26, 2-10 scoring); one forward pass answers all with probability distributions instead of sentences. Everything runs locally with browser caching, no uploads, with a CPU/WebAssembly fallback.
