Enterprise AI's hardest problem: capturing organizational context, not just documents
blaizedsouza · x · 2026-09-18
Arvind Jain argues enterprise AI should understand what a company knows and how it makes decisions, breaking "operating intelligence" into four layers: individual judgment in context, managerial intelligence that enables honest challenge, team coordination across functions, and process intelligence about how work flows and where it gets stuck.
Most enterprise AI today centers on the explicit layer—documents, tickets, CRM records—while the harder problem is the surrounding context: why a signal matters, who needs to be involved, what decisions were already made, and where work is actually blocked. How well AI understands that context will determine its usefulness.
