Anthropic and Adaptyv launch protein design contest with $2M in credits and wet-lab validation

- Anthropic and Adaptyv Bio are co-sponsoring a free protein design competition running Sept 28 – Oct 31, with one new challenge released weekly across five disease/biology-focused problems.
- $2M total backing: Anthropic provides up to $1M in Claude credits (up to $50K for academic teams, $25K for industry, 20 teams selected), plus joint $1M in wet-lab validation funding; Modal contributes up to $250K in compute and Twist Bioscience supplies DNA.
- Over 5,000 designs will be synthesized and characterized in Adaptyv's automated lab, and all experimental results will be published openly on Proteinbase. Applications close Sept 24.
