Palantir CEO Karp: AI labs seek regulation to dodge liability — and may beg to be nationalized
kevinnbass · x · 2026-09-18
Palantir CEO Alex Karp argues model companies calling for societal regulation are trying to escape the first line of defense: civil and criminal liability for technology that could 'destroy 10% of the world.' He says the only way to handle that liability is to go to the government and ask to be nationalized, adding that 'everyone who understands this is on some payroll.' Quoting commenter Chad Wahl: this is what being responsible for your product looks like — Palantir's free dev tier requires KYC, country restrictions and other controls.
