Modular 26.6 Opens Mojo Compiler to External Contributions, Adds Audio Generation in MAX
clattner_llvm · x · 2026-09-18
Modular released 26.6, its first version since open-sourcing the Mojo compiler at ModCon:
- Mojo 1.1 now accepts external contributions; internal issues migrated to public GitHub issues. Improvements include faster compilation of implicit conversions and t-strings, LSP suggestions for off-by-one typos, and contextual type inference (e.g., DType.float32 → .float32).
- MAX 26.6 adds audio generation, new frontier model architectures, and significant performance gains on NVIDIA and AMD GPUs.
- An ecosystem alliance program is planned for late 2026.
