Anil Seth reflects on two years of debate over his conscious-AI target article

Anil Seth, professor of consciousness science at Sussex, is marking the full journey of his target article, "Biological Naturalism and Conscious Artificial Intelligence," which explores the prospects and pitfalls of AI that is — or irresistibly appears to be — conscious.

First posted as a preprint over two years ago, the article drew commentary from an extensive roster of scholars including Karl Friston, Steve Fleming, Iain McGilchrist, Manuel Blum and others across consciousness studies, neuroscience and philosophy. Seth thanked all commentators for their engagement and linked back to the original preprint thread.
