Polymarket rewrites data API in Rust with AI coding agents, 90% faster p99s

Polymarket announced a Rust rewrite of its data API: 50% faster p50s and 90% faster p99s, backed by in-house indexing tables, making trades, positions, and balances load much faster in the Polymarket UI. The new v2 API is open to anyone on the /v2 route with no API key required.
Commenter ivanbezdomny argues this kind of rewrite only became practical with AI coding agents — in a pre-AI world, a billion-dollar company would have to bite the bullet and pay far more for software development. He adds, though, that without AI there might also be less demand for fast APIs facilitating arbitrage across exchanges.
