LeCun at Sciences Po: superintelligent machines are inevitable but will stay under human command

At a Sciences Po event, Yann LeCun said there is no doubt machines will eventually surpass humans in every domain — but they will remain under human orders, likening them to doctoral students smarter than him whom he still supervises.
Commentator Fabien Mikol used the remarks to push back on French public figures like Luc Julia and Cédric Villani, who deny AI can reach human level and often cite LeCun as an ally — despite LeCun's actual position being quite different: he accepts superintelligence is coming, he just rejects the loss-of-control narrative.
